About the job
The Operators at the Fort Worth plant are responsible for the safe and environmentally friendly operation of the sulfonation and neutralization processes to deliver product of the highest quality and quantity in accordance with production schedules, standard operating procedures and management instructions.
Responsibilities- Maintain personal and others' safety, perform forklift safety inspections and weekly eyewash/safety shower inspections.
- Issue safe work practice permits and monitor activities within process area, including exclusion zones.
- Control site entry and participate in the BBS process and safety meetings.
- Participate in the industrial hygiene program, including yearly physical examinations, noise and air quality monitoring, and respirator fit testing.
- Report spills and leaks using the ZRI system and complete environmental inspections and checklists.
- Sample product and transfer to laboratory for quality checks; monitor process control data to assure product quality.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and report malfunctions via SAP work notifications.
- Provide on-the-job training for new or transferring employees.
- Blend corrosive and flammable raw materials using glass-lined pressure vessels, controlling pressure, flow rate, and temperature.
- Neutralize sulfonation product in a non-pressurized vessel, handling lime-slurry for pH adjustments.
- Monitor and regulate plant water outflow from secondary containment areas, outflow pit, wastewater pit pH, and oil skimmer system.
- Receive and unload raw materials, drum finished product, blend batches, and dump scrap as needed.
- Housekeeping, accurate tank gauging, and operating Sulfonator and Pfaudler reactors safely and efficiently.
- Operate Lime Slaker, order quicklime, load and unload finished product tank trucks, operate scrubber system and cooling tower.
- Set up freeze protection, record relief information at shift changes, and troubleshoot operational problems.
- Maintain accurate batch tickets and records during shift; handle product transfers from Sulfonation to Liquid area.
- Perform general plant duties as needed.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Training and skills in sulfonation, liquid, loader/unloader operations, and general plant duties.
- Ability to follow written procedures and perform work safely.
- Experience in a chemical facility is advantageous.
- Completion of all initial and refresher job training and ISO qualification.
Full‑time, on‑site, permanent position reporting to the Production Shift Supervisor, located in Fort Worth, TX.
