Job Summary

Manufacturing Engineer I is an entry-level engineering role focused on supporting the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes. Responsibilities typically include assisting with process improvements, troubleshooting production issues, ensuring quality standards, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. This role requires foundational knowledge of manufacturing principles, strong problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Responsible for determining methods, processes, and equipment required in the manufacturing of metal fabricated components.
  • Develop, modify and improve current and new machining processes and reverse engineering efforts to streamline the manufacturing process.
  • Quoting and estimating of new jobs and creating and managing new planning and processes.
  • Create planning documents including tooling, fixtures, programs, in‑process inspection sheets, etc.
  • Work with Supply Chain Management to order material, processing through purchasing.
  • Provide Management Decision Information concerning manufacturing costs.
  • Provide information and recommend improvements concerning manufacturing capabilities, product design and tooling.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
  • Provide routine manufacturing decision‑making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  • Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Provide manufacturing engineering information by answering routine questions and requests.
  • Apply knowledge of product design and assembly to the manufacturing process.

Knowledge (Education/License/Certification, Prior Experience)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering. Project Management experience a huge plus.
  • Knowledge of machining disciplines:
    Turning, Milling, 5‑Axis Mill‑Turn, Grinding, Honing, etc.
  • Blueprint reading skills, interpretation of drawings, GD&T.
  • Knowledge of creating work orders, sketches for various production.
  • Experience with team collaboration with CAD Programmer… troubleshooting with shop floor employees, preferred.
  • Knowledge of Solid Works and CATIA.
  • Must have experience with manual machine tools.
  • Experience with prototypes, serial manufacturing, tool / fixture design preferred.
  • Detailed experience and know‑how in order processing with integrated processes preferred.
  • Experience with ISO 9000 / AS 9100 requirements preferred.
  • Experience with Kaizen, 5S, continuous improvement and Lean Enterprise practices preferred.
  • US Persons – ITAR Controls applicable.
  • Knowledge of hardware specifications, manufacturing methods and procedures, manufacturing quality, product development, presenting technical information, CAD, CAD/CAM circuit design.
  • Proficient with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office programs.
