CNC Lathe Machinist
This role involves setting up and operating CNC vertical lathe machines to perform precision turning, drilling, milling, and part-complete operations. You will optimize machine performance, ensure parts meet strict specifications and tolerances, and support both high- and low-volume production in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

- Optimize set-up times and maximize machine utilization to support efficient production.
- Read and interpret blueprints and route instructions to understand job specifications and requirements.
- Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to ensure all parts meet specified dimensions and tolerances.
- Troubleshoot CNC programs and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.
- Set up CNC equipment to run full cycles for both high- and low-volume production, maintaining offsets and improving productivity.
- Inspect parts with a high degree of precision using appropriate measuring tools and follow the in-process part inspection process.
- Identify non-conforming parts and promptly notify the supervisor or lead when non-conformance occurs.
- Collaborate and communicate with managers, programmers, and quality personnel to receive assignments and resolve quality issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety and quality procedures while operating CNC equipment.
- At least 5 years of experience operating lathe machines in a manufacturing environment, including performing set-ups.
- Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC lathes for turning, drilling, and milling operations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and route instructions accurately.
- Proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to verify part specifications and tolerances.
- Experience working with at least 3-axis CNC machines.
- G-code experience for understanding and adjusting CNC programs.
- Proficiency using precision measuring tools such as calipers and gauges for part inspection.
- Ability to follow in-process inspection procedures and document or report non-conformances.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving issues with CNC programs, tooling, and machine performance.
- Effective communication skills to work closely with managers, programmers, and quality personnel.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with 5-axis CNC machines is a significant plus.
- Familiarity with CNC brands such as Brother, Doosan, Takumi, and Siemens is preferred but not required.
- Experience working in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
- Comfort working with both high- and low-volume production runs.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
