What You’ll Be Doing As a Material Bonder B- Perform routine or semi-route operations required to prepare aircraft parts or articles for the material bonding process.
- Working from simple blueprints, drawings or oral instructions, assemble, locate and align parts or articles in correct position and proper sequence.
- Cleans, scrapes, sands, or grinds production or experimental rotor blades or airfoil sections using hand tools or powered equipment.
- Cleans and wipes parts with cleaning cloths, apply appropriate metal cleaning or treatment materials.
- Remove excess adhesive or squeezed out materials.
- Locate, mask and tape off and prepare areas to be filled.
- May be required to dry chemically treated or filled areas per established procedures.
- Remove tape and other similar protective materials and sand or grind according to pre-established finish dimensions.
- Check travelers, MDARS, Rework or other forms to ensure all required operations are performed.
- Select and mix proper bonding agent and apply it according to standard procedure.
- Do minor rework, fitting or trimming as required.
- Make up pressure bag and seal edges for leaks or may use prepared bag.
- Use various production aids such as jigs, fixtures and necessary tools.
- May assist Material Bonder “A”.
Hand tools, jigs, fixtures, clamps, templates, measuring instruments, safety gloves, bonding agents, portable power grinding and sanding equipment, measuring devices, etc.
What You Need To Be SuccessfulSix (6) months’ experience performing work similar to above description or an employee in order to qualify must possess the experience requirements as called out in the Job Description or must show a minimum of six (6) months’ experience at Bell or six (6) months experience prior to employment at Bell in any one or a combination of the following Job Classifications:
- Bench Hand Aircraft “A” Painter, Aircraft “A”
- Bench Hand Aircraft “B” Painter, Aircraft “B”
- Cleaner, Paint Booth Patternmaker
- Plaster Modeler Plaster Patternmaker
- Upholsterer “A” Aircraft Assembler “A”
Or
- Successful completion at the Advanced Composite Fabrication Course (T220) (only offered at Bell).
