Inventory Specialist

Scope of Responsibility

The purpose of this position is to coordinate and expedite the flow of work materials according to the production schedule.

Essential Duties
  • Uses the ERP system to process Material Requirements Planning (MRP) jobs.
  • Reviews and updates operations in the ERP system.
  • Updates information in the ERP system as directed.
  • Utilizes production logs and job log sheets to ensure accuracy and make corrections when needed.
  • Tracks and audits production employees attendance and applied labor.
  • Works with purchasing to schedule and coordinate materials.
  • Contributes to team efforts by effectively communicating and working well with members of other departments and personnel to accomplish assigned tasks and projects.
  • Track and monitor material advance working with purchasing to verify on‑time delivery.
  • Coordinate outsourcing of parts to and from other sites.
  • Manages multiple projects with a thorough understanding of specific vendor needs and schedules.
  • Continuously monitors progress on daily work schedules to assure that satisfactory progress is being made to meet Sabre customer demands.
  • Ensures accurate information by gathering specifications, drawings, and other related documents for review; compiles documentation into the Vantage‑Epicor system.
  • Contributes to a safe working environment by being responsible for quality, safety, cleanliness and organization of assigned work area.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent required;
    Certified Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM) preferred.
  • Experience: 2 years recent administrative or related experience working in a steel manufacturing environment is preferred; 1 or more years recent experience using an ERP/MRP system is preferred.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Regular and timely attendance is required.
    • Must possess professional and effective English verbal and written communication skills, be detail oriented and self‑driven.
    • Must be a team player and able to effectively multi‑task, with a high level of accuracy, in a fast‑paced work environment.
    • Must be flexible to adapt to change and updates regularly.
    • Must have a basic mathematical aptitude.
    • Basic knowledge of blueprints desired.
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Demonstrated ability to work with frequent interruptions in workflow and constantly changing priorities.
    • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time with the ability to move throughout the office or outside manufacturing plant as needed.
    • Must be able to perform physical activities that require use of fingers, hands and arms, such as sitting, typing, using office equipment and reaching.
    • Some additional physical activities may require walking, stooping, bending, twisting and handling of materials.
    • Position requires manual dexterity, arm‑hand steadiness and a safety‑minded individual.
    • Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sources.
