Pay Range: $20.00-$23.00 DOE

About the role

As an Equipment Operator in the Compost Department at Silver Creek Materials, you are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment used in compost production, material handling, and site maintenance. Working at one of the largest composting, mulching, recycling, mining and aggregate facilities in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, you will help process organic materials, maintain production flow, and support the company's commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.

What

you'll do
  • Operate heavy equipment such as wheel loaders, skid steers, track loaders, excavators, and water trucks in support of compost operations.
  • Move, stockpile, load, and process compost and organic materials efficiently and safely.
  • Conduct pre‑shift and post‑shift inspections to ensure equipment is operating properly.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and report equipment issues promptly.
  • Follow all company, OSHA, and MSHA safety requirements while maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to achieve daily production goals.
  • Maintain accurate records related to equipment inspections, usage, and maintenance activities.
Qualifications & Skills
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment in the mining, compost, and/or construction industry.
  • Basic mechanical understanding and problem‑solving skills.
  • Must comply with background check and Drug‑free Workplace Policy.
  • Compliance with safety regulations as outlined by the Company and OSHA/MSHA.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions for extended time periods.
  • Ability to physically lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co‑workers / peers in job duties.
  • Must be dependable and coachable.
  • Bi‑lingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • CDL with tanker endorsement preferred.
  • Truck loading and site prep experience are a plus.
