Summary Description

The Production Planner is responsible for the materials PO’s and delivery tracking as well as planning production based on internal and external customer demand, meeting customer expectations, while maintaining and balancing pre‑established safety stock levels and efficiency in the manufacturing plant. The Production Planner is also responsible for the creation of stock transfer orders (STO’s) of products shipped but not produced in the manufacturing facility.

Functions
  • Learn Refresco MRP and how it is used; gain basic understanding of the tool and company best practices.
  • Assist in basic line scheduling and principles; understand system recommendations, customer flavor changeover matrices, and production sequencing.
  • Assess BOMs, material master data, and PRRs; create variants to change the view in each tcode; learn materials needed for products, appropriate suppliers, and how to place PO or pull materials.
  • Provide material order cycle times to learn how lead time affects production scheduling.
  • Understand or gain knowledge of line run rates and capabilities; attend meetings with operations and supply chain team.
  • Be knowledgeable in days of supply (DOS) and goal targets.
  • Adhere to safety stock settings currently in the system and understand the strategy behind them.
  • Review and maintain BOM and master data for accuracy.
  • Learn about ACE and where training documentation is located; learn the commercial team organizational chart.
  • Gain knowledge of operations counterparts in the plant.
  • Perform the process of how to do transfers and when they need to be placed.
  • Support production planning escalation; develop new support relationships as change is inevitable.
  • Initiate, provide, compile, and analyze basic data for reporting purposes.
  • Develop an understanding of current processes and locate best‑practice files.

Required Skills and Competencies
  • Knowledge of the organizational roles chart and cross‑functional support roles.
  • Supplier communication and understanding of the supplier matrix for all materials.
  • Customer communication: knowledge of which customers and products are on which lines and the associated account managers.
  • Aged inventory awareness and basic avoidance techniques.
  • Collaboration with demand planners and relationship development on key accounts.
  • Problem‑solving skills using system tools such as GIB, SAP, MRP, BW, PBI, and shared Excel reporting.
  • Basic Excel calculations and ability to download data from SAP or Power BI.
  • Power BI: access, navigation, and basic report understanding.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in food or beverage manufacturing, sourcing, or supply chain highly desirable.
  • 3+ years of SAP experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
  • APICS Certified is a plus.
Working Conditions
  • Continuous sitting for prolonged periods; administrative in nature.
  • Requires attention to detail with use of one or two senses at a time.
  • Fast‑paced work environment; ability to remain focused under pressure.
  • Pronounced pressure from deadlines, project management, accuracy, and similar demands.
