Job Summary:
We are hiring an experienced Fitter Welder III for a manufacturing facility in Fort Worth, TX. The ideal candidate will have experience with Flux-Core (FCAW) and MIG/Hard Wire (GMAW) welding, metal fabrication, fit-up, and reading blueprints and weld symbols. This position involves fitting and welding metal components to specifications while maintaining quality, safety, and production standards.
- Perform FCAW (Flux-Core) and GMAW (MIG/Hard Wire) welding in horizontal and vertical positions.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and weld symbols.
- Fit, lay out, tack, and weld metal components according to specifications.
- Use cutting torches and plasma torches to cut and prepare metal.
- Heat form and dress metal parts using hand tools, torches, and welding equipment.
- Inspect weldments and ensure work is built accurately and to print.
- Follow welding procedures, production instructions, and supervisor direction.
- Complete production routers and required documentation.
- Safely operate welding and fabrication equipment.
- Identify and communicate technical or production issues to the supervisor.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Cross-train and assist with other fabrication duties as needed.
- 1–3 years of welding/fabrication experience preferred.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Experience with FCAW and GMAW welding processes.
- Familiarity with SMAW (Stick) welding.
- Experience with welding equipment used in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication blueprints and weld symbols.
- Experience with metal layout, fit-up, and weldment inspection.
- Experience using cutting and plasma torches.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong communication skills and English proficiency.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, preferred.
Welding Test An on-site welding/fitment test is required before an offer is extended. Candidates will be asked to:
- Cut a piece of metal using a cutting torch.
- Reattach the piece while maintaining required dimensions.
- Complete one weld using Flux-Core wire (FCAW).
- Complete one weld using Hard Wire/MIG (GMAW).
Candidates should plan for approximately 2 hours for the interview and testing process. Required for the test:
Long sleeves, long pants, steel-toed shoes/boots, and safety glasses.
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to pass a GMAW/FCAW performance qualification test within 30 days of employment.
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Medical screening may be required.
- Must be available to start promptly if selected.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, push, pull, twist, reach, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
- Must be comfortable working around heat, noise, and welding fumes.
- Must follow all safety and HSE requirements.
Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a hands-on Fitter Welder who can read blueprints and weld symbols, accurately fit and fabricate metal, and confidently weld using Flux-Core and MIG/Hard Wire processes. Strong candidates will have excellent attention to detail, good attendance, a strong safety mindset, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
