The Fabrication Shop Manager plans, organizes, and manages the day-to-day activities of the fabrication and assembly department, performing required duties personally or through subordinate staff. This role ensures that all work is completed in accordance with project specifications, company procedures, and safety policies, and is responsible for welding, steel fabrication, purchasing, assembly design review, and training. The Fabrication Shop Manager oversees the company's Fort Worth facility and may occasionally manage or perform short-term assignments at customer facilities throughout the Southwest.

• Plan and execute fabrication activities based on input from Product/Project Management, in coordination with Quality Control, Safety, and applicable codes and standards.
• Organize and assign fabrication personnel and equipment on a daily basis to meet production demands, with particular emphasis on safety, efficiency, product quality, and output.
• Monitor welding and fabrication work in progress to ensure compliance with company safety policies and quality requirements.
• Oversee the use of company equipment, facilities, welding consumables, supplies, and contract materials to ensure safe and efficient use.
• Maintain continuous oversight of work in progress, including reviewing and approving design concepts and specifications developed by assembly designers.
• Assign work to fabrication personnel, set work schedules, inspect completed work, and evaluate employee performance.
• Perform or manage short-term demolition and fabrication projects at customer facilities as required.
• Operate and troubleshoot production machinery, including forklifts, band saws, welders, power threaders/groovers, grinders, plasma cutters and painting equipment.
• Maintain accurate production, safety, and quality records, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate purchasing of materials, consumables, and equipment needed for fabrication operations.

Directly supervises fabrication and assembly personnel, including welders, fitters, and shop support staff. Responsibilities include scheduling, training, performance evaluation, and enforcement of safety and quality standards.

• High school diploma or GED required; college or technical/trade school .
• Journeyman welding certification required.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification .

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in metal fabrication and welding shop environments as a welder, welding operator, or fitter.
• Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or lead experience in a fabrication or welding shop environment.
• Minimum of three (3) years of industrial/commercial pipe fitting experience.

• Experience and knowledge of welding processes such as FCAW, MCAW, GMAW, and SMAW.
• General knowledge of diesel engines, electric motors, pumps, control panels, and modern shop technology, equipment, and procedures.
• Working knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and safety practices.
• Proficient with common business/computer applications and shop management or ERP software.
• Highly organized with the ability to multi-task effectively, make quick decisions, and efficiently direct others.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and put in additional hours as needed to meet deadlines and schedules.
• Ability to work flexible hours and operate independently with minimal supervision.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must be able to pass a post-offer drug screen and criminal background check.

This position regularly works in and around an industrial fabrication shop environment and occasionally at customer job sites. The employee must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds; use hand and power tools; and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, welding helmets/shields, and steel-toed boots. Exposure to noise, heat, fumes, and moving machinery should be expected.
