Marketing & Development Intern

Reports to:

Director of Marketing & Development

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Marketing & Development Intern will work with the Marketing & Development team (and collaborate heavily with other departments) to learn and participate in nearly every facet of nonprofit marketing, fundraising, communications, community engagement, and organizational growth. This is not an internship built around busywork. The right person will be trusted with real projects, real relationships, creative opportunities, and the chance to contribute ideas that help DRC grow and help the Tarrant County community to thrive.

We are looking for someone curious, creative, outgoing, fun, resourceful, and equally comfortable learning from a spreadsheet, a donor conversation, a community event, or time spent alongside the people and programs DRC serves. The ideal candidate can take initiative and work independently while still being eager to learn, ask questions, absorb feedback, and grow.

Most importantly, this person should genuinely want to do good work in the world and believe that every person deserves to be treated with dignity and without judgment.

• Assist with social media content creation, planning, scheduling, and community engagement
• Help develop creative campaigns that tell the story of DRC, its clients, programs, staff, donors, and community partners
• Write and edit captions, emails, newsletters, website content, blogs, donor communications, and other marketing materials
• Assist with photography, video, interviews, and storytelling projects
• Help identify new trends, ideas, partnerships, and creative ways for DRC to reach new audiences
• Participate in brainstorming and experimentation with new marketing strategies and campaigns
• Assist with development of organizational materials including DRC’s Annual Report, giving materials, presentations, and promotional pieces

• Learn the fundamentals of nonprofit fundraising and donor stewardship
• Assist with donor research, prospect identification, database management, and gift tracking
• Help prepare donor communications, acknowledgements, appeals, sponsorship materials, and stewardship efforts
• Participate in fundraising strategy discussions and learn how individual, corporate, foundation, church, and community giving work together
• Assist with sponsorship outreach and relationship development for DRC events and initiatives
• Help identify creative opportunities to grow DRC’s donor and supporter community

• Research potential private, corporate, and foundation funding opportunities
• Assist with gathering current DRC program data, outcomes, community statistics, and supporting information
• Learn the grant development process from research and planning through writing, submission, reporting, and stewardship
• Assist with drafting grant proposals, letters of inquiry, reports, and supporting materials
• Help maintain grant calendars, deadlines, records, and organizational information

• Meet and communicate with DRC staff, clients, volunteers, donors, business leaders, community partners, and people from a wide range of backgrounds
• Assist in identifying and developing success stories from DRC programs and staff
• Participate in community events, educational presentations, volunteer projects, tours, and outreach opportunities
• Help welcome community members into DRC’s mission and create meaningful ways for them to become involved
• Learn how strong nonprofit organizations build trust and relationships throughout the communities they serve
