Senior Manager, Communications

American Airlines is seeking a Senior Manager, Communications to lead strategic internal and external communications for a major business unit. In this role, you will develop and execute integrated communication plans that support company goals, elevate our brand, and reinforce our safety- and customer-focused culture. You will oversee channels including executive messaging, media relations, digital and social content, and employee communications.

The Senior Manager partners closely with leaders across the airline, manages a small team and vendors, and uses metrics to refine campaigns in a fast-paced, global environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead integrated internal and external communications strategies for key business units
• Partner with senior leaders to craft executive messages, presentations, and talking points
• Manage media relations, including proactive storytelling and response to inquiries and issues
• Oversee internal communication channels and campaigns to engage and inform employees
• Create and edit high-quality content for digital, social, and traditional channels
• Lead crisis and issues communications planning and response in coordination with key stakeholders
• Manage and mentor communications staff and coordinate with agencies or vendors
• Use data and analytics to measure communication effectiveness and refine strategies
• Ensure alignment of all messaging with brand, values, and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, HR, marketing, and customer teams
