Work hours:PRN Days 7:00 am - 7:00 pm
- Rotating Weekends/Holidays

- Robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team
- Provides Leadership and clinical expertise to support the Med/surg General surgical unit (36 bed unit.
- The General Surgical Nurse provides care to a wide variety of post op patients including: complex gastro-intestinal and abdominal surgeries and plastics related wound care cases requiring ostomy, drain and wound vac management.
- MAGNET facility
- Level I Trauma Center
- Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN preferred
- Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire required
- BCLS - prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
- ACLS- within 90 Days required
- CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training - within 90 days of hire
- 1-year experience as a clinical nurse in an acute care setting required
- 2-years experience as a clinical nurse in Med surg General Surgical setting preferred
In addition to the required qualifications, a successful RN will
- demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
- maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude toward patients
- possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism
- have basic computer skills using Medical management application systems
The Charge Nurse
- will communicate and collaborate with all members of the health care team
- support and actively participate in shared governance/councils
- committed to developing their individual knowledge and skills, as well as advancing the profession of nursing and engaging in lifelong learning/development.
- evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
- directly assists leadership on a particular unit or units and shift, by offering staff guidance and support, maintaining a clean and safe work environment and ensuring unit operational tasks are completed.
