- Charge Registered Nurse (RN) Med Surg General Surgical Dept
LocationTexas Health Fort Worth, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104
HoursPRN Days 7:00 am – 7:00 pm – Rotating Weekends/Holidays
Department Highlights- Self-scheduling that helps with work/life balance as well as opportunities for educational and career growth
- Robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team
- Provides Leadership and clinical expertise to support the Med/Surg General Surgical unit (36 beds)
- General Surgical Nurse provides care to a wide variety of post op patients including: complex gastro‑intestinal and abdominal surgeries and plastics related wound care cases requiring ostomy, drain and wound vac management.
- MAGNET facility
- Level I Trauma Center
- Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN preferred
- Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire required
- BCLS – Prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
- ACLS – within 90 days required
- CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
- 1-year experience as a clinical nurse in an acute care setting required
- 2-years experience as a clinical nurse in Med Surg General Surgical setting preferred
In addition to the required qualifications, a successful RN will:
- demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast‑paced environment.
- maintain a positive, customer‑focused attitude toward patients
- possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism
- have basic computer skills using Medical management application systems
The Charge Nurse will:
- communicate and collaborate with all members of the health care team
- support and actively participate in shared governance/councils
- committed to developing their individual knowledge and skills, as well as advancing the profession of nursing and engaging in lifelong learning/development
- evaluate the effectiveness of interventions
- directly assist leadership on a particular unit or units and shift, by offering staff guidance and support, maintaining a clean and safe work environment and ensuring unit operational tasks are completed.
