Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Fort Worth is hiring a PRN Registered Nurse for our Post‑Surgical Unit!
Night ShiftNight shift positions available on the Post‑Surgical Unit.
Registered Nurse Post‑Surgical Unit- Provides all nursing care services for post‑surgical patients in accordance with accepted standards of care.
- Responds to patients presenting to the Emergency Department and performs the Medical Screening Exam as delegated by the Medical Executive Committee.
Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.
Licensure/Certification
- Current Texas RN License.
- Current BLS; must obtain ACLS within six months of hire.
Required Experience
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience as an RN in a hospital Medical/Surgery or ICU Unit.
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrates knowledge and skill necessary to assess patients’ psychosocial, educational, and physical needs, and to address these needs in an age‑appropriate manner for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and/or geriatric populations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organizational habits.
- Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment.
- Ability to prioritize and organize workload to meet patient and unit needs.
- Experience with Electronic Health Records.
- Performs direct patient care within the scope of RN practice and according to hospital policies and procedures.
- Plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for patients based on individual needs and physician orders.
- Responds quickly and appropriately to emergency situations.
- Identifies educational needs, implements and evaluates learning, and documents patient/family education.
- Manages acute and chronic pain for all patients, especially post‑procedure or surgical patients, to alleviate suffering and improve healing.
- Delivers medication based upon continual assessment, safety, and evaluation of patient response.
- Provides the Medical Screening Exam to patients presenting to the hospital with a healthcare need and follows policies and procedures for follow‑up.
- Follows all documentation policies.
