Registered Nurse (RN) Med Surg General Surgical Dept

Work location: Texas Health Fort Worth, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104

Work hours: Full Time 7a-7p - Rotating Weekends/Holidays

• 36 bed unit
• The General Surgical Nurse provides care to a wide variety of post op patients including complex gastrointestinal and abdominal surgeries and plastics related wound care cases requiring ostomy, drain and wound vac management
• MAGNET facility
• Level I Trauma Center

• Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required
• BSN preferred
• Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire required
• BCLS - prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
• CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training - within 90 days of hire
• 1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN Residency program
• 2+ years med surg experience as an RN in an acute care setting preferred

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process

• Assess the patient
• Plan the care of the patient
• Intervene as appropriate
• Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions
• Incorporate age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care
• Initiate action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
• Maintain continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers
