Department SummaryUNT Health, Clinical Practice Group is the academic clinical practice for the Health Science Center. Focused on improving health outcomes to build a healthier community. The UNT Health primary and multispecialty care clinics are located on the HSC campus in Fort Worth. Our care teams extend to local hospitals, surgery centers, long‑term and continuing care centers, and mobile and in‑home care.
The Clinical Practice Group’s interprofessional teams work collaboratively to achieve an optimized treatment plan tailored to the individual patient. Physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physical therapists, pharmacists, social workers, psychologists, specialized technicians, and nurses work together while intentionally integrating health care students, residents, and fellows to deliver care to our community.
HSC Health is seeking a compassionate LVN to join our dynamic team of healthcare providers at the University of North Texas Health and Science Center Center for Older Adults. This role requires a candidate with strong organizational skills, a broad set of interests and skill set, and strong interpersonal communication abilities. Candidate must have the ability to assess patients quickly and accurately.
Exhibits compassion, understanding, the ability to work well in teams, and the ability to function in a fast‑paced environment is critical for this position.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and one (1) year of related experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A valid Texas Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license and a current CPR (BLS) certification.
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).
- Previous experience, preferably with a student population, including telephone communication, ambulatory care, familiarity with adult vaccine schedule, patient rights, and safety.
- Experience with Medicare and Managed Medicare insurance plans.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Valid Texas nursing license.
- Current CPR (BLS) certificate.
- Measure and record patients' vital signs, perform procedures, and administer medications, injections, and vaccines as ordered by the clinician in the electronic health record. Assemble, maintain, and properly use equipment in patient care delivery.
- Return patient calls and perform telephone triage following standardized protocols and clinicians' guidance.
- Gauge patients' overall health status, updating clinicians as indicated. Provide oversight and guidance to medical assistants in collaboration with the clinic supervisor/manager.
- Obtain insurance authorizations for referrals, procedures, and medications. Follow clinical protocols for medication refills. Complete patient forms as necessary.
- Follow all departmental and organizational policies and procedures with regard to patient safety, quality management, infection control, and human resources. Ensure appropriate legal and regulatory standards.
- Deliver culturally competent care that respects each patient's individual beliefs.
- Participate in process and quality improvement initiatives that aim to ensure patient safety and efficient clinical workflows.
- Coordinate care with internal and external partners.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Moving self in various positions to perform tasks in tight and confined space.
- Lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds.
