Registered Nurse (RN) Observation Dept

Work hours

PRN, Nights - Requires at least 1 shift per 6 week schedule, 7:00 pm - 7:00 am

Department highlights

  • Fast paced 23 bed Observation Unit with an average patient stay of 24‑48 hours, primarily serves patients with chest pain/rule out, MI, COPD, dehydration, syncope, UTI, hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, allergic reaction and cellulitis among others.
Here’s What You Need
  • Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program or Nursing Diploma required
  • BSN preferred
  • One‑year experience as a registered nurse in an acute care setting required
  • One year of Emergency experience strongly preferred
  • RN must practice within the regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act, serve as a role model, intra/interdisciplinary collaborator and coordinator for quality patient care
  • BLS prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • ACLS within 90 days of hire required
  • CPI within 90 days of hire required
What You Will Do
  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
  • Assesses the patient
  • Plans the care of the patient
  • Intervenes as appropriate
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter‑shift, inter‑hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
