Job Summary:
The Women's and Infants service line at John Peter Smith Hospital is a robust multidisciplinary team of physicians and advanced practice professionals who are dedicated to meeting the complete health care needs of women in our community. We provide services and support for women at every stage of life, including but not limited to preventative health care, low and high risk prenatal/childbirth/postnatal care, menopause care, urogynecology, and gynecologic oncology evaluation and treatment.
Our physicians provide 24 hour in house inpatient hospital coverage and we deliver and average of 4,000 babies a year. Our Advanced Practice Provider group consists of trusted and experienced nurse practitioners and certified nurse midwives who are committed to providing excellent health care to women and to ensuring that every child has the best possible start in life. They work in concert with our Physicians on a daily basis and are highly regarded by our patients and their families for the confidence they engender and the relationships they foster through attentiveness, responsiveness, and meaningful communication.
Advanced Practice Providers are a valued part of our healthcare team and are integral to maintaining our commitment to providing quality health care to the patients and families that we serve.
Position Details:
- Monday - Friday (8-hour day shift) or possibility for 10-hour shifts, rotating off day weekly
- Well woman, problem gynecology and obstetrics
- Diverse patient population with complicated conditions
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with the physician in overseeing and coordinating the multidisciplinary care delivered to all patients, to optimize quality patient care.
- Reviews patient medical charts to assist physician with diagnosis, treatment and care management.
- Makes appropriate patient referrals as necessary.
- Monitors guidelines for the management of care and for ensuring that the services are delivered in compliance with the guidelines established by JPS Health Network and Acclaim Physician Group.
- Provides care education to patients and families.
- Provides evidence-based and compassionate care to all patients as assigned to improve patient outcomes and increase patient satisfaction scores.
- Maintains a collaborative environment with providers, clinical staff, and support staff.
- Supports academic, educational and research endeavors.
- Attends Performance Improvement Programs and Peer Review committee meetings; and is an active participant in the process.
- Serves as a resource to the community.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years' experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in Obstetrics and Gynecology (WHNP, CNM or PA only)
Education:
Completion of a master's or post-master's degree in a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner program or Certified Nurse Midwifery program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) - OR
- Completion of an Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) approved program (prior to January 2001, completion of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs-approved program), or demonstrate completion of an accredited Physician Assistant residency program
- Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
Current certification by the National Certification Corp (NCC), American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM), or National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), or an equivalent body. Current licensure to practice as an APRN or Physician Assistant in the state of Texas.
