Position Summary:
The principal duty of all employees is to assist in the mission of the Church in the Diocese of Fort Worth. The Part-Time School Nurse fulfills the mission of the Catholic school by promoting and protecting the health and well-being of students and staff, ensuring a safe environment where every child can learn and grow in the light of Christ. The School Nurse provides healthcare, compassion, and support within the framework of the school's philosophy, organization, and diocesan policies.
This position serves as both a healthcare professional and a minister of care, offering medical expertise and spiritual presence that reflect the dignity of every person. The nurse works collaboratively with the principal, teachers, and families to support the physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness of all students. This is a part-time position (Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.), hired and evaluated by the Principal.
Principal Accountabilities:
• Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
• Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
• Supports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school and Diocese.
• Abides by the Confidentiality Policy set forth in the Diocese Employee Handbook.
• Provides first aid, medical attention, and emergency care to students and staff as needed.
• Serves as a health advocate for each student, assessing physical and emotional health needs and identifying barriers to learning.
• Manages and plans for acute, chronic, and emergency health problems, including appropriate referral and follow-up.
• Provides counseling and health education to students and parents in keeping with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
• Coordinates and documents student immunizations, screenings, and communicable disease control programs in compliance with state and diocesan regulations.
• Initiates referrals and ensures follow-up care for identified health needs.
• Administers medications and maintains detailed, confidential health records.
• Anticipates medical supply and equipment needs to maintain a functional clinic.
• Supports the principal in preparing reports, documentation, and correspondence related to health and safety compliance.
• Maintains medical supplies, clinic cleanliness, and organization of the health office.
• Allocates job functions and supervises substitute nurses or designated staff as needed.
• Collaborates with teachers, parents, and staff to promote healthy school practices.
• Meets staff development guidelines as set forth by the Diocese/local administration.
• Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits.
• Maintains a work schedule that maximizes availability to students, staff, and administration.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.

• Required to work Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
• Required to manage moderate levels of stress and occasional interruptions.
• Required to work in a standard office and school environment with potential exposure to illness.
• May need to work occasional evenings or weekends for professional development or emergencies.
