Work location:

Texas Health Fort Worth, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104

Work hours:

Full Time, (3) 12 hour shifts 6:45p-7:15a - Rotating Weekends/Holidays;
Team members may be placed on call for regularly scheduled shifts in response to census fluctuations. Department highlights:

  • Self-Scheduling that helps with work/life balance as well as opportunities for educational and career growth
  • Robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team
  • The unit will initially open with 20 beds, with plans to expand to the full 36 beds later in the year.
  • The General Surgical Nurse provides care to a wide variety of post op patients including: complex gastro-intestinal, urology and colorectal surgeries with an average length of stay of approximately five days.
  • Opportunity to work on a brand- new unit in the beautiful Justin Tower
  • MAGNET facility
  • Level I Trauma Center

Qualifications

Here's What You Need:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required
  • BSN preferred
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire required
  • BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
  • 1-year experience as a registered nurse or the completion of an RN Residency program
  • 2+ years med surg experience as an RN in acute care setting preferred.

What You Will Do:

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
  • Assesses the patient
  • Plans the care of the patient
  • Intervenes as appropriate
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
