Work hours:

Full-time, 36 hours weekly, 3-12 hours shifts, 7:00 pm – 7:00 am Department highlights: 28-bed Medical PCU department Intermediate level of care to a wide variety of medical patients at a 3:1 patient to nurse ratio. This patient population requiring specialized monitoring and interventions, includes patient diagnosis such as: diabetic keto acidosis (DKA), respiratory compromised patients that require specialized equipment including continuous respiratory interventions, home ventilation systems, and tracheostomy care, multi-system organ failure, respiratory distress, sepsis, hematology, GI Bleeds, Renal/Liver Failure, Acid-Base and Electrolyte Imbalances, and cardiac abnormalities.

Medication management includes continuous and titratable IV medications to support the intermediate care population. Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly ACLS – within 90 days of hire required CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire 1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required PCU experience preferred – will consider Tele and Med/Surg experience In addition to the required qualifications, a successful RN will demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
• assesses the patient
• plans the care of the patient

• Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
• Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers
