About the Role:

The Circle of Boating Dockhand plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of marina and dock activities. This position is responsible for assisting boaters with docking, undocking, and securing vessels, while maintaining a clean and organized dock environment. The dockhand supports daily marina operations by performing routine maintenance, monitoring safety protocols, and providing excellent customer service to boat owners and visitors.

This role requires a proactive approach to identifying and resolving potential issues to enhance the overall boating experience. Ultimately, the dockhand contributes to the efficient functioning of the marina, promoting safety, accessibility, and customer satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ability to swim and comfort working near water.
  • Physical capability to perform manual labor including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic knowledge of boating terminology and dock operations.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with customers and team members.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working in a marina, dock, or boating environment.
  • Certification in CPR and basic first aid.
  • Familiarity with local boating regulations and safety standards.
  • Experience operating small boats or watercraft.
  • Customer service experience in a fast-paced, outdoor setting.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist boaters with docking and undocking procedures, ensuring vessels are securely moored.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning docks, inspecting equipment, and reporting any damages or hazards.
  • Monitor marina safety by enforcing rules, identifying potential risks, and responding promptly to emergencies.
  • Provide courteous and knowledgeable customer service, answering questions and offering assistance to boaters and visitors.
  • Support inventory management by tracking supplies and notifying management when restocking is necessary.
Skills:

The required skills such as swimming ability and physical stamina are essential for safely assisting with boat handling and performing maintenance tasks on the docks. Strong communication skills enable the dockhand to provide clear instructions and friendly service to boaters, enhancing their overall experience.
