L.O. Coatings Quality Engineer ; Level 4

Quality Engineer Staff

This position will report to the Quality Manager of the F‑35 Low Observable (LO) Finishes program and support F‑35 Product‑Quality activities across multiple build areas:
Component Final Finishes (CFF), Landside Final Finishes (LFF), Aircraft Finishing Facility (AFF), and DD‑250 build areas (aircraft touch‑up and product data package preparation).

• Provide timely, responsive, and exceptional quality inspection capabilities to support LO activities throughout the entire build process across multiple production directorates, primarily in CFF, LFF and AFF.
• Build and maintain professional working relationships with teams across the F‑35 program, including Production, DCMA, Program Management, Engineering & Technology, Material/Process/Product Engineering, Flight Sciences, and Quality & Mission Success (Q&MS).
• Conduct root‑cause corrective action (RCCA) activities for action requests from field customers, corrective action requests from internal DCMA customers, and internal quality assurance records (QAR) and internal corrective actions (ICA) to address product nonconformances and FOD escapes.

• Advanced understanding and experience completing root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
• Knowledgeable of AS9100 standard and experience with reviewing or performing AS9102 First Article Inspections.
• Basic understanding of statistical and data analytic skills.
• Ability to interpret drawings and specifications to develop quality standards, methods, work instructions and procedures for inspection and testing of manufactured products.
• Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Experience with Minitab, Tableau, and Business Objects for data analytics/dashboard creation.
• Experience with F‑35 production operations.
• Experience with Low Observable (LO) finishes/coatings.
• Experience with relevant technology and/or processes.
• Experience with product‑quality methods from a quality or manufacturing perspective.
• Ability to navigate complex product and process‑related requirements to validate nonconformances and develop corrective actions in coordination with DCMA and production colleagues.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Shop Floor Manager (SFM), Product Data Management (PDM), APRISO Documentation System, or similar systems.
• ASQ certification such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQOE).
• Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration, communication, and presentation.
• Experience coordinating process and product evaluations and assessments.

This position requires a government security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required. Clearance level:
Secret.

4 × 10‑hour day, 3 days off per week. Shift: First.
