Scope of Position

This highly skilled, quality-focused, and continuous improvement-driven individual, as part of the Quality team, will be responsible for leading welding and fabrication excellence across the Fort Worth manufacturing operation. This position is responsible for supervision of under 5 direct reports and reports to the Quality Manager. The role is onsite and based in Fort Worth, Texas.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as the site subject matter expert for welding, fabrication, ASME code compliance, welder qualification, and weld quality.
  • Develop and maintain fabrication processes, fixturing, welding procedures, and supporting documentation.
  • Develop, deliver, and maintain training and certification programs for welders, fabricators, and NDT personnel in accordance with ASME, AWS, and company requirements.
  • Certify new and existing welding operators to applicable ASME requirements and company standards.
  • Ensure compliance with ASME quality management programs and other applicable industry standards, regulations, and customer requirements.
  • Train, certify, and implement in-house NDT processes and inspection methodologies.
  • Lead root cause investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance.
  • Partner with Quality, Production, Engineering, and Operations teams to ensure fabrication processes meet quality, safety, and productivity objectives.
  • Support capital equipment evaluations, manufacturing process improvements, and machine acquisition projects.
  • Support internal auditing programs and participate in ASME accreditation, surveillance, and customer audits.
  • Organize, direct, and support ASME and non-ASME field repair activities as required.
  • Utilize Excel, Power BI, and other reporting tools to analyze fabrication process performance and communicate key performance indicators to leadership.
  • Participate in new product introduction and manufacturing capability planning activities.
  • Collaborate with Sustaining Engineering to ensure drawings, calculations, and fabrication requirements comply with applicable ASME standards.
  • Work directly with the Authorized Inspector to maintain certifications and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain regulatory requirements and documentation associated with welding and fabrication activities.
  • Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by the Quality Manager or Company management.
  • Responsibility directly tied to Watts Value Integrity, Accountability, Continuous Improvement, Transparency.
Travel Requirements

20% travel as required to support manufacturing operations, audits, training activities, supplier visits, and field repair support.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Welding Engineering, or related technical field; in lieu of a degree, an equivalent combination of education, certification, and directly related experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 10 years of manufacturing experience, including at least 5 years in welding, fabrication, quality, inspection, or related technical disciplines.
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification or ability to obtain certification within established company time frames.
  • Working knowledge of ASME Sections I, IV, VIII, IX, and HLW requirements.
  • Experience conducting internal audits and supporting ASME certification and surveillance audits.
  • Experience with welder qualification programs, welding procedures, fabrication standards, and NDT methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and fabrication documentation.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Power BI.
  • Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures, as applicable.
  • Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks, and required pre‑employment testing as a condition of employment.
