L.O. Coatings Quality Engineer Sr; Level 3

Job Summary

An experienced Quality Engineer will report to the Quality Manager of F-35 Low Observable (LO) Finishes and provide engineering support across key build areas, including Component Final Finishes (CFF), Landside Final Finishes (LFF), Aircraft Finishing Facility (AFF), and Flight Line DD-250.

• Provide timely, responsive, and exceptional Quality Engineering capabilities throughout the entire build process spanning multiple Production Directorates.
• Build and maintain professional working relationships with teams across the F-35 program, including Production, DCMA, Program Management, Engineering & Technology, Material/Process/Product Engineering, Flight Sciences, and Quality & Mission Success colleagues.
• Conduct Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) activities and support Action Requests (AR), Corrective Action Requests (CAR), and Internal Corrective Action (ICA) to address product nonconformances and Quality/FOD escapes.
• Identify and pursue opportunities for process and product improvement across build areas.

• Experience working with Root Cause and Corrective Action/Problem Solving Methodology/Quality tools.
• Basic understanding of statistical and data analytic skills.
• Ability to interpret drawings and specifications for development of quality standards, methods, work instructions, and procedures for inspection and test of manufactured products.
• Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

• Position generally requires 3+ years of related experience and may include a post‑secondary degree or training in a related discipline.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification.
• Experience with Minitab, Tableau, and Business Objects for data analytics and dashboard creation.
• F-35 production operations experience.
• Experience with Low Observable (LO) Finishes/Coating Technology and/or processes.
• Understanding of AS9100 and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
• Experience with AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI).
• Experience with Product-Quality methods either from the quality or manufacturing perspective.
• Ability to navigate complex product and process‑related requirements to validate nonconformances and develop corrective actions in coordination with DCMA and Production colleagues.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Systems, Shop Floor Manager (SFM) or similar manufacturing management systems, Product Data Management (PDM) or similar engineering database, Quality Assurance Documentation System (Apriso) or similar system.
• ASQ certification (CQE or CMQOE).
• Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration, communication, and presentations.
• Experience in conducting or coordinating process and product evaluations and assessments.

Clearance Level: Secret.
