Aerospace CMM​/NDT Lab Manager

Position Summary

Under general supervision and reporting to the Vice President of NDT and Metrology Services, the Lab Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, operation, quality, and profitability of the Metrology (CMM inspection) and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) laboratory. This position ensures compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, accreditation requirements, and company quality objectives while managing personnel, equipment, workflow, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Lab Manager serves as the primary customer-facing point of contact for all service related activities in the Lab.

• Direct daily laboratory operations to ensure efficient scheduling, workflow, and resource utilization.
• Oversee and Supervise all Lab Metrology, Dimensional inspection, CMM Inspection/Programming, and NDT; services and personnel. Monitor turnaround times, productivity, and customer delivery performance.
• Develop and implement operational procedures and best practices.
• Manage laboratory budgets, expenses, and capital equipment investments.
• Ensure measurement uncertainty and traceability requirements are maintained.
• Lead resolution of technical measurement challenges and customer inquiries.
• Ensure compliance with applicable aerospace and customer industry standards
• Maintain technician certifications and qualification records.
• Support audits and customer reviews of Metrology, CMM and NDT processes.
• Ensure calibration and preventive maintenance programs remain current.
• Maintain laboratory accreditation requirements and documentation.
• Establish performance goals and conduct employee evaluations.
• Recruit, train, mentor, and develop technical staff.
• Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and customer service.
• Interface with customers to understand technical requirements and provide solutions.
• Assist with quotations, project planning, and capability assessments.
• Support new business opportunities and strategic growth initiatives.
• Present technical findings and recommendations to customers and management.
• Perform other related job duties as required

• Aerospace accreditations such as NADCAP and AS9100
• FAA, EAR, and ITAR standards and regulations
• Aerospace NDT methods and certification requirements in accordance with NAS 410
• Hexagon and ZEISS equipment and programming
• GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
• Aircraft Parts and Material Conformity Inspections
• OSHA and all Regulatory safety requirements
• MS Office

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Engineering Technology, Physical Sciences, Quality, or related technical discipline preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• 7+ years of experience in Metrology, Dimensional Inspection, Quality Assurance, or NDT
• 5+ years in an Aerospace Service-related Industry
• 5+ years of Supervisory or Management experience.
• Working knowledge and experience with inspection methods, techniques, and protocols

• US citizenship required.
• Fluent English – reading and writing is required
• Pass pre-hire background check including MVR screening
• Pass Pre-hire Drug Screening
• Reliable transportation - must have current/active drivers' license and auto insurance
