Job Summary:
The Research Assistant assists with one or more research projects being conducted at the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development (KPICD). Research projects include grant, contract, and revenue funded activities focused on evaluating and implementing Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI).
Duties &Essential Job Functions:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related discipline.
Education & Experience:
- Experience in a research or applied setting.
Licensure/Certification /Specialized Training:
- None
- TBRI Practitioner
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications.
- Skill in effective writing.
- Skill in administrative techniques that will permit effective and efficient work in an office setting.
- Ability to interact and effectively communicate within a diverse work setting, both individually and in groups.
- Ability to demonstrate passion for the organization’s mission and a commitment to equity and community-centered work.
- Ability to work independently under the supervision of KPICD Research Leadership, while successfully completing complex assignments such as data collection, data management, and report preparation.
- Ability to use web-based resources such as online data-collection software.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently as part of a research team.
- Ability to interact with children and adults in field settings, sometimes in sensitive situations.
- Ability to communicate clearly.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):- Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
- Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
- Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
- Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
- Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.
- Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
- There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
- The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
- This role is an on campus, in-person position.
