Research Scientist
The Alcon R&D team is looking for motivated Engineers to join our Envision R&D Rotational Program, starting January or July 2027, at John’s Creek, GA and Fort Worth, TX. This 3‑year rotation provides industry experience, networking, and the chance to impact patients and customers through meaningful projects. It includes personal and professional development, high‑visibility projects, coaching, and mentoring.
Recruiting for Envision Track 3 positions for graduates (December 2026 or May 2027) of the following majors:
Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Polymer Science, Organic Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Process Engineering, Ocular Cell Biology or related majors.
- R&D Analytical Chemistry – Fort Worth, TX
Hands‑on experience with structure‑property relationships of polymeric materials, advanced imaging technologies, chemical/biological characterization, solvent extraction, chromatographic separation, spectral interpretation, structural elucidation. Independently develop new analytical methods, design and execute complex, non‑standard laboratory studies, and document experiments in high‑quality technical documents. - Vision Care R&D – Johns Creek, GA
Process development and manufacturing. Interact with lens designers, contact lens metrology leads, clinical project leads, and vision/data scientists. Perform lab work, data organization, studies, and prepare/modify formulations, lens fabrication, and characterization. - Extraocular Devices (EOD) – Fort Worth, TX
Search literature, design and conduct experiments to test ideas, write technical reports, and present results.
- Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in one of the specified majors and expected to graduate December 2026 (January 2027 start) or May 2027 (July 2027 start).
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.
- Demonstrated leadership skills through extracurricular activities or projects.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. permanently. Students on an F-1 visa with CPT work authorization may be accommodated.
- Ability to commit to a full‑time (40 hours per week) 3‑year rotational program in John’s Creek, GA or Fort Worth, TX.
- Pursuing an advanced degree (M.S., M.Eng., Ph.D.) in one of the relevant majors.
- Alcon internship or co‑op work experience.
