Position OverviewThe Laboratory Manager will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the Genomics Core. This includes regular maintenance of advanced scientific instrumentation and streamlining procedures to assist researchers with available sequencing techniques. The employee will liaise with team members from other core labs, work closely with students, faculty, and external clients, and ensure studies meet scientific, regulatory, client standards, and HSC protocols while adhering to state and federal guidelines.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree and five (5) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Employees may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and must maintain security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role.

- A Ph.D. degree and 2 years of related experience.
- Hands‑on experience with molecular techniques, including processing of genomic NGS assays (such as RNAseq, ChIPseq, ATACseq, etc.).
- Experience with single‑cell sequencing protocols and analysis (10x genomics preferred).
- Experience using qPCR, Qubit, Agilent Bioanalyzer, Illumina NGS and Pac Bio platforms or similar.
- Experience with analysis of sequencing data.
- Ability to learn new techniques, protocols, and software effectively.
- Ability to multitask and adapt to workload and customer needs while maintaining accurate and reliable records.
- Knowledge of genomic workflow automation.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships proactively.
- Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.
- Strong technical skills and desire to build on those skills.
- Understanding of translational research processes.
- Strong and clear communicator by oral and written means and comfortable interacting with a wide range of professional colleagues.
- Rigorous approach to experimental design, implementation, and data analysis.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously with deadlines.
- Positive and polite assertiveness to maintain safety and security precautions.
- Comfortable developing new workflow and educating others about those processes.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Manage daily operations of the Genomics Core by conducting genomic sequencing workflow, such as preparing samples, processing data, and assisting with interpretation.
- Maintain advanced scientific instrumentation.
- Assist and advise scientists with experimental design and methods; provide customer service to users of the Genomics Core.
- Ensure accurate web‑based scheduling and billing of services through the iLab platform.
- Lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds.
- Lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
- Work with toxic or caustic chemicals.
