The College of Dentistry is looking for a Research Technician to serve in the department of Biomedical Sciences. We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. The successful applicant will bring an expert level of experience to the position and understand the demands of supporting executives in a fast-paced environment. This person must be professional, enjoy working in a high-volume environment and be able to apply strong organizational skills while being flexible in their daily routine.

$20.00 hourly
Work Schedule/LocationLocated in Dallas, TX, this an on-site role with a typical schedule of Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm.

Qualifications RequiredEducation and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two years of related lab work experience, to include animal handling.
Bachelor’s degree in related field.
Experience with animal handling/experiments.
Knowledge of laboratory equipment, scientific apparatus, and computer equipment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Animal Care and Research: Assists in conducting experiments and technical procedures. Performs laboratory research activities. Assists undergraduate and graduate students with their research projects. Animal care, genotype and surgery procedures. Sample collection and preparation. Histological/Microscopy: image analysis/photography, histological preparation/cutting of tissues. Animal model preparation. Makes and records observations and measurements. Maintains animal reports and data files. Makes and records observations and measurements.
Research Technical Support: Assembles and operates technical equipment. Sets-up and maintains equipment for the assigned laboratory and updates laboratory computers. Maintains laboratories according to Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) specifications. Provides logistical support with computers in the laboratory. Performs laboratory and prep room cleanup daily.
