Associate Director, Medical Writer - HEOR Publications

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Associate Director, Medical Writer - HEOR Publications based in the United States.

This is a strategic individual-contributor role focused on advancing global health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) communications across an oncology portfolio.

You will translate complex health economic, real-world evidence, patient-reported outcomes, and healthcare utilization data into clear, scientifically rigorous publications.

The role spans manuscripts, abstracts, posters, podium presentations, and other congress materials supporting evidence dissemination worldwide.

You will collaborate closely with HEOR, Market Access, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Biostatistics, and Evidence Generation teams.

The position also involves partnering with external authors, health economists, outcomes researchers, key opinion leaders, and publication agencies.

Success requires balancing scientific rigor, strategic thinking, editorial excellence, compliance, and delivery across multiple concurrent projects.

This is a fully remote opportunity for an experienced medical writer who wants to influence how evidence supports value demonstration and healthcare decision‑making.

• Lead the development, writing, and execution of HEOR-focused scientific publications, including manuscripts, abstracts, posters, podium presentations, and congress materials.

• Translate complex evidence---including cost-effectiveness analyses, budget impact models, RWE studies, PRO research, treatment-pattern analyses, comparative effectiveness research, and HCRU analyses---into accurate, compelling scientific communications.

• Partner with HEOR, Market Access, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Biostatistics, Evidence Generation, and product teams to execute publication strategies and evidence-dissemination plans.

• Contribute to integrated publication plans supporting global value demonstration, evidence generation, market access, and product value communication objectives.

• Provide strategic direction for evidence‑dissemination activities and help shape the external scientific narrative.

• Collaborate with external authors, health economists, outcomes researchers, key opinion leaders, and publication steering committees throughout publication development.

• Critically evaluate study designs, statistical analyses, observational research, economic models, and patient-centered outcomes data to ensure scientifically balanced and accurate communications.

• Ensure publication activities comply with Good Publication Practice (GPP), ICMJE recommendations, applicable ISPOR Good Practices, and internal policies and procedures.

• Manage multiple publication projects across therapeutic indications and geographic regions, maintaining agreed timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

• Provide scientific and editorial guidance to cross-functional teams, external vendors, and publication agencies.

• Build and maintain productive relationships with authors, journals, congress organizations, publishers, and professional societies.

• Follow applicable SOPs, work instructions, and quality standards governing scientific communications.

• Advanced degree such as PhD, PharmD, MD, MPH, MS, or equivalent in health economics, outcomes research, epidemiology, public health, life sciences, biostatistics, or a related discipline.

• 5--7 years of scientific or medical writing experience within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, HEOR consulting, outcomes research, or medical communications environments.
