Position: RETAIL - LIQUOR SALES (80180)

Summary

The individuals who perform this job provide extraordinary shopping experiences to our guests and stock merchandise at Spec’s Wines, Spirits, and Finer Foods locations in Fort Worth, TX.

Responsibilities
  • Know and actively demonstrate the Company Mission Statement and Core Values daily.
  • Maintain uniform standards as detailed in the Employee Manual for all worked hours.
  • Demonstrate superior product knowledge.
  • Greet guests and engage in conversation with a smile and a helpful demeanor, remembering that the guest always comes first.
  • Recommend merchandise based on guests’ needs or desires, focusing on in‑house brands.
  • Answer guests’ questions concerning price and use of merchandise.
  • Create client relationships with regular guests.
  • If needed, carry product to register counters and carry out products for guests.
  • Operate a cash register as business dictates.
  • Carry out directives of management efficiently.
  • Prepare promotional events as necessary.
  • Set up displays or arrange merchandise on counters or tables to promote sales.
  • Front merchandise and rotate stock for freshness and restock shelves with product.
  • Maintain neat and orderly sales floor and back stock.
  • Clean shelves, bottles, aisles, and tables; look for improperly stocked product to avoid trips and falls.
  • Maintain fresh and readable price tags on all products.
  • Provide feedback to management regarding fast or slow‑moving product, stock levels, out‑of‑stocks, and department needs.
  • Prepare sales floor and storage areas for inventory and assist in the inventory process if needed.
  • Properly use and maintain computers and RF scanner equipment.
  • Seek to continually improve related skills and knowledge to contribute to profitability and productivity.
  • Avoid conversations with coworkers when guests are present.
  • Limit use of personal cell phone to work‑related activities only while on the sales floor.
  • Practice teamwork and cooperation with others.
  • Possess time‑management skills and be able to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to manage stress in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Work in accordance with all safety regulations of Specs Family Partners and OSHA.
  • Stand, lift, carry, walk, and bend, and reach products routinely weighing 50 pounds or more. Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds or more occasionally using proper lifting techniques and tools. Push and/or pull 50–100 pounds or more regularly.
  • Other projects and tasks assigned by management.
  • Clean the bathroom as required.
  • Attendance and timeliness are required. This is not a remote sales job.
Qualifications
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred; retail sales experience preferred.
  • Strong product knowledge of liquor, spirits, wine, and tobacco is a plus.
  • Read, comprehend, and write simple instructions or memos.
  • Communicate with and understand coworkers and guests.
  • Basic mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; calculate discounts and percentages.
  • Smiley, friendly, helpful demeanor.
  • Responsible, reliable, and committed to providing extraordinary service.
  • Patience, friendliness, and an outgoing personality needed for success.
  • Self‑starter with a strong work ethic who completes assignments in a timely fashion and looks for the next task.
Requirements
  • Valid TABC Beverage Sellers Permit required upon employment.
  • Valid Food Handlers Permit may be required in some cases.
  • Must be able to work any shift on Friday or Saturday and must be available 80% or more of all shifts each week.
  • Full‑time: typically 35 hours per week. Part‑time: up to 25 hours per week.
Physical Demands

The position requires standing, walking, bending; use of arms, hands, and fingers to feel, handle, reach, and lift; and the ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds occasionally while using proper lifting techniques. This position also requires the ability to push and/or pull 50–100 pounds regularly.

Work Environment

The store provides a fun and positive environment. Noise level is usually moderate. Employees may be exposed to outside weather conditions when delivering service.
