Department SummaryThe Institute for Translational Research is devoted to bringing novel diagnostics and interventions to patients and families suffering from neurodegenerative diseases, fostering translational research in neurodegenerative diseases at UNTHSC, and creating solutions for a healthier community. Our team spans basic "bench-top" science, clinical research, community-based research and clinical trials. Our translational approach is intended to foster discovery and expedite those discoveries toward the benefit of those suffering from brain disease.
A particular emphasis of ITR is the development of personalized (or person-focused) medicine for Alzheimer's disease.
This position will conduct face‑to‑face, telephone interviews, as well as neuropsychological testing, with research participants in neurodegenerative disease studies such as Alzheimer's. The role includes managing community recruitment and participant screening, performing data scoring and quality control, scheduling appointments, and handling essential administrative tasks to ensure our clinical trials run smoothly and efficiently.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree and one year experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role.

- Knowledge of scientific research techniques, methods and procedures.
- Ability to work effectively with fellow researchers, staff members, faculty, supervisors and students.
- Academic writing skills.
- Bilingual preferred

- Conduct face‑to‑face and/or telephone interviews with participants, in accordance with predetermined interview protocol, data collection procedures and documentation standards.
- Conduct neuropsychological testing.
- Participate in community recruitment of research participants and screening into studies (Essential).
- QC of files and data collected.
- Maintain accurate records of interviews, safeguarding the confidentiality of subjects, as necessary, and any other duties as needed.
- Scoring of interview and testing data.
- Scheduling appointments, prescreening and reminder calls as needed.
- Administering functional research exams.
- Administrative tasks such as copying, preparing research materials, filing as needed.
- Data entry, outreach support and other duties assigned.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
- Lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- No adverse environmental conditions expected.
