Position Overview

The Laboratory Manager will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the Genomics Core, including regular maintenance of advanced scientific instrumentation and streamlining procedures to assist researchers with sequencing techniques in HSC. The employee will liaise with team members from other core labs and work closely with students, faculty, and external clients, ensuring studies meet scientific, regulatory, client, and state/federal standards.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

The employee may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having access to critical organizational infrastructure and must maintain its security and integrity.

Preferred Qualifications
  • A Ph.D. degree and 2 years of related experience.
  • Hands‑on experience with molecular techniques, including genomic NGS assays (e.g., RNAseq, ChIPseq, ATACseq).
  • Experience with single‑cell sequencing protocols and analysis (10x Genomics preferred).
  • Experience using qPCR, Qubit, Agilent Bioanalyzer, Illumina NGS, Pac Bio platform or similar.
  • Experience with analysis of sequencing data.
  • Ability to learn new techniques, protocols, and software effectively.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to workload and customer needs while maintaining accurate, reliable records.
  • Knowledge of genomic workflow automation.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships proactively.
  • Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.
  • Strong technical and translational research skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication with a wide range of professional colleagues.
  • Rigor in experimental design, implementation, and data analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams managing multiple projects with deadlines.
  • Positive, polite assertiveness to maintain safety and security precautions.
  • Comfortable developing new workflows and educating others.
  • Strong organizational skills.
Job Duties
  • Manage daily operations of the Genomics Core, including genomic sequencing workflows such as preparing samples, processing data, and assisting with data interpretation.
  • Maintain advanced scientific instrumentation.
  • Assist and advise scientists with experimental design and methods, providing customer service to users.
  • Ensure accurate web‑based scheduling and billing of services through the iLab platform.
Physical Requirements

Environmental Hazards
  • Exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
  • Work with toxic or caustic chemicals.
Work Schedule

8-5 Monday through Friday.
