Position

A Deputy City Marshal II Position is available with the City of Fort Worth Marshal's Division. The Deputy City Marshal II is a law enforcement officer position commissioned by TCOLE. The primary responsibility of the Marshal’s Division is to bring wanted parties before the Court, but it is also tasked with providing bailiffs to the Court and patrolling Lake Worth. The Marshals Division is made up of four sections:

  • Building Security: Maintains physical security of Fort Worth City Hall, the Public Safety Building, other facilities and parking areas. Deputies assigned to this section also serve as bailiffs. As a Bailiff, Deputies are responsible for maintaining decorum of the Court and safety of staff and the public.
  • Warrant Section: Brings wanted parties before the Court. Deputies assigned to this section work with the Fort Worth Police Department to arrest wanted parties, enforce traffic laws, and respond to radio calls for service as needed.
  • Lake Patrol: Enforces maritime laws at Lake Worth and assists the Fort Worth Police Department by responding to calls for service. Primary goal is to ensure a safe environment for the public on the lake and in surrounding parks. Responsible for search and rescue and emergency response on the lake and surrounding waterways.
  • Bike Patrol: Patrols the downtown city campus, including City Hall and the Public Safety Building. Works with the Fort Worth Police Department to maintain peace in downtown Fort Worth.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED
  • Two (2) years of experience in a law enforcement related field, security of governmental buildings/structures, or relevant active duty military police experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Valid Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Peace Officer’s License
  • Must pass physical, swim and rowing test
Preferred Qualifications
  • Intermediate Texas Peace Officer's License or higher
  • Higher education achieved in a law enforcement related field
  • Completed minimum TCOLE training hours for the training cycle and continuing education
  • Marine Safety Enforcement Officer Certification
  • Firearms proficiencies in pistol, shotgun, and rifle platforms
  • Bilingual skillset
Responsibilities
  • Operates security screening checkpoints; searches and inspects persons and their property entering secure facilities for prohibited weapons, explosives, and other contraband
  • Serves as court bailiff in assigned courts and performs related duties; ensures the safety and security of the courtroom, jury, and trial participants at all times
  • Responds to emergencies and incidents in the Municipal Courts, City Hall Complex, and in/around Lake Worth
  • Transports prisoners to and from surrounding jurisdictions; ensures proper restraint of prisoners during transportation
  • Conducts traffic stops and investigations, enforces various traffic laws and water or boating laws, and issues citations as required
  • Detains, questions, and investigates persons suspected of violating specific court orders
  • Serves warrants, arrests persons named therein, and testifies in court when required
  • Completes and maintains accurate reports, inventories, and documents
  • Assist the Fort Worth Police Department with the transportation of persons with Fort Worth Class “C” warrants
