Job Description
Summary:
Salary: $18.43 - $27.65 per hour. This position is part-time working up to 29 hours per week from January - May 2027. The Cybersecurity Student Assistant is designed to provide exposure to a variety of security tasks that one should expect a junior or entry-level security analyst to perform. These include SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) tool usage, virus/malware remediation, Procedural Documentation, audit support, incident response, and general tasks of the security operations center (SOC).
In addition, CSA may be asked to complete a project to advance their understanding of cybersecurity. This project will be adjusted to the needs of TRWD and matched to the skill set of the student.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities :
- Log analysis
- Malware/Virus removal and analysis
- Phishing mailbox monitoring and remediation
- Threat feed monitoring and updating
- SIEM tool incident monitoring
- SIEM tool dashboard/reporting creation and monitoring
- Documentation and reporting
- Maintain familiarity with strategic district levels of service
- Continuous improvement monitoring and innovation efforts
- Perform other duties as required
Less than one (1) year of related experience General computer literacy Introductory knowledge of security concepts: AV, Firewall, etc. Good communication skills (Verbal and Written)

Required Education/Certification/License:- B.S. Cybersecurity
- B.S.E Computer Engineering
- B.S. Computer Science
- B.S. Information Systems
- B.S. Information Technology
- Valid Texas driver’s license
Bachelor’s degree in a related field

Work environment:
