POSITION PURPOSE

The position serves as a highly visible safety resource while maintaining a professional, service-oriented presence consistent with the mission and values of the school district. Works closely with the Superintendent, Senior Executive Director of Safety, Security & Student Transport, district leadership, law enforcement partners, and event personnel to identify and mitigate security risks. Provides professional, discreet, and proactive security and transportation for the Superintendent during official district activities, meetings, public events, and other assignments.

Exercises sound judgment, maintains strict confidentiality, demonstrates exceptional interpersonal skills, and responds appropriately to emergencies or potential threats.

  • Assists with expedient and secure movement of the Superintendent between vehicles, buildings, meeting locations, and event venues.
  • Provides security support for the Superintendent during district and community activities.
  • Maintains flexibility to support changing schedules and assignments.
  • Identifies potential security concerns and recommends appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Maintains situational awareness of individuals, activities, access points, exits, and environmental conditions.
Coordination, Communication, and Personal Conduct
  • Represents the district positively when interacting with employees, students, parents, community members, elected officials, and visitors.
  • Maintains a calm, professional, approachable demeanor at all times.
  • Maintains professional working relationships with district personnel, SROs, local law enforcement, emergency management, campus administrators, and other security personnel.
  • Maintains appropriate radio and communication procedures.
  • Participates in security briefings and operational planning.
  • Documents incidents, security concerns, and protective activities in accordance with district procedures.
  • Communicates effectively and exercises discretion when discussing security-related matters.
  • Avoids unnecessary attention or disruption while performing duties.
Threat Awareness, Assessment, and Response
  • Monitors information that may present a potential security concern.
  • Communicates credible threats or significant security concerns through established district protocols.
  • Coordinates with Safety & Security regarding emerging threats, suspicious activity, or unusual behavior.
  • Assists with threat assessments and protective planning including identifying entrances, exits, evacuation routes, staging areas, and emergency access points as needed when requested.
  • Maintains awareness of individuals or circumstances requiring additional attention while respecting applicable laws, policies, and privacy requirements.
  • Responds rapidly and appropriately to emergencies as needed.
  • Assists with evacuation, sheltering, lockdown, reunification, or other emergency procedures as directed.
  • Provides or coordinates immediate assistance until appropriate emergency responders arrive.
  • Maintains proficiency in emergency response, defensive tactics, first aid, CPR, and other required skills.
  • Responds appropriately to disruptions, emergencies, suspicious activity, or security threats.
