Overview
Job title:
Common Laborer with highway construction experience. The role supports workers on construction sites with a range of physical labor tasks.
- Able to operate hand tools and power tools of all types
- Able to listen, understand, and follow directions
- Able to learn how to haul, operate, load and unload construction equipment
- Able to dig trenches, backfill holes, or compact earth to prepare for construction
- Able to set up traffic control devices such as cones, signs and barricades, etc.
- Help to maintain a clean and safe job site
- Perform other related and non-related duties as assigned
- Regular and timely attendance
- Ability to learn how to operate basic construction equipment
- Must have a valid Texas driver’s license
- Must be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Record check with minimal infractions
- Must be able to pass a physical
- Must be able to pass drug and alcohol screenings
- Must be able to travel and work overtime, weekends and nights as needed and out of town
- Must always wear all proper PPE required in the field
- High school diploma or GED
- Work is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions
- Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas
- Must be able to lift and carry 80 lbs, and push and/or pull up to 50 lbs as needed
- Must be able to stand and walk up to eight hours per day
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions
- Exposure to noise, fumes, vibrations and heights
- Exposure to prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, stooping, reaching, crawling and climbing
- Ability to remain flexible as specific assignments change
- Ability to work with a variety of personalities
