Tuesday - Friday, 7:00 am - 5:30 pm. Some evening/weekend work required. This position is a first responder in severe weather conditions/emergencies and will be subject to after-hours work, emergency call back hours, nights, weekends, holidays, and an on-call rotation.

A Sr. Equipment Operator (Concrete Maintenance Program) is available with The City of Fort Worth’s Transportation and Public Works Streets and Stormwater Operations Division. The department is seeking to hire a Sr. Equipment Operator with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and to join our dedicated team for stormwater concrete maintenance. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing stormwater infrastructure, ensuring efficient flow of water and preventing potential hazards.
The ideal candidate will work four (4) ten-hour days and will be subject to emergency call-back. Emergency call-back could be after hours, on weekends, on holidays, and/or during weather events. You will be required to work outdoors in inclement weather, around moving traffic/equipment, in and around water, and around overgrown vegetation.
- High school diploma/GED
- Three (3) years of experience in operation of motorized equipment or construction equipment
- Possession of a CDL Class A with a Tank Endorsement;
Operations of a hydro-mulch vehicle, water truck, and/or vactor as required
- Proficiency in operating heavy equipment, including operating a dump truck with a trailer, off-road equipment such as skid-steer, walk-behind, mini-excavator, payloader, and backhoe
- Computer skills, including Vueworks, MS Office, and other related work order management systems
- Supervising crew when needed
- Drainage system knowledge
- Traffic Control (MUTCD) and safety procedures, including flagging
- Working in all weather conditions
- Equipment operations and manual labor duties as they relate to stormwater maintenance
- Performing preventative maintenance on equipment; perform pre- and post-trip inspections
- Loading and unloading heavy materials and equipment by hand and with tools/machines
- Assisting with set-up of traffic control cones and barriers
- Maintaining paperwork, respond to high-priority calls, and provide training and instruction to other personnel who operate equipment related to the assigned division
- Operating a variety of motorized equipment such as dump trucks, trailers, backhoes, skid steers, concrete truck, excavators, compactors and front-end loader
- Using various hand and power tools (shovels, sledge hammers, concrete placers, screeds, vibrators, demolition hammers, plate compactors)
- Assisting in concrete maintenance-related duties
- Performing skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to completion of assigned jobs (e.g., operating concrete truck, setting forms, pouring concrete, pipe installation and maintenance, drainage structure installations and repairs, concrete-lined channel work, and working with/heavy equipment and confined spaces)
- Maintaining accurate records of work completed and materials used
- Responding to emergency calls during inclement weather (rain events, flooding, ice/snow events)
