A Fleet Crew Leader – job is available with the City of Fort Worth Property Management Department’s Fleet Division. The Fleet Division plays a large part in providing support for all City departments serving our residents. This position is for the James Heavy Service Center and maintains and repairs fire trucks, heavy duty diesel equipment, and vehicles.
The Fleet Division is the “glue” which keeps the City equipment and vehicles in a mechanically sound state and safe for all employees and residents.
Minimum Qualifications- High School diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training in automotive/mechanical repair or related field
- Four (4) years of automotive/mechanical repair experience
- One (1) year of lead responsibility
- Valid Driver’s License
- Possession of, or ability to obtain mechanical hand tools of type and quantities sufficient to perform with efficiency all required repair duties.
- Must pass Drug Screen & Physical
- Preference may be given to applicants with knowledge in maintenance and repair of fire truck engines and aerials
- Preference may be given to applicants with knowledge in diagnostic software including Cummins Insite, Allison, and Wabco
- Preference may be given to applicants with knowledge in diesel engine repair and maintenance
- Preference may be given to applicants with knowledge in air brake repair and maintenance
- Preference may be given to applicants who have extensive knowledge with the Fleet Repair Management Software Program(s)
- Preference may be given to applicants that hold current National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (NIASE) Certification(s) in automobile and heavy truck.
- Preference may be given to applicants that hold a Texas Class A or B commercial driver’s license
- Preference may be given to applicants with EVT training and certifications
Job Responsibilities
- Leading a diverse workforce of maintenance technicians to achieve aggressive performance goals in a fast-paced environment
- Establish safe and efficient methods of diagnosis and repair of all types of City of Fort Worth equipment
- Active demonstrative, hands on management of technician workflow and scheduling of maintenance and repairs
- Evaluate and diagnose technical repair issues and provide repair methodology
- Active development and training of technicians
- Evaluate and provide quality control on all maintenance and repairs
- Dedication to complete customer service

Medium work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
