Maintenance Technician- Fort Worth, TX

The Warehouse Handyman / Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing general maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance activities to ensure the warehouse, equipment, and facilities remain safe, functional, and efficient. This role supports daily operations by addressing facility issues promptly and maintaining compliance with safety and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

Facility & Building Maintenance

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on warehouse lighting, including replacing bulbs, ballasts, and fixtures.
• Conduct basic plumbing work such as repairing leaks, replacing fixtures, clearing drains, and maintaining restrooms.
• Perform basic electrical work, including replacing outlets, switches, breakers (where permitted), and troubleshooting minor electrical issues.
• Patch, repair, and paint walls, including drywall installation and repair.
• Perform carpentry and woodworking tasks, including repairs to doors, frames, pallets, docks, and wooden structures.
• Maintain warehouse floors, walls, offices, and common areas in safe working conditions.

Equipment & Dock Maintenance

• Perform basic forklift maintenance, including oil changes, oil and air filter replacement, fluid checks, and visual safety inspections.
• Inspect and repair dock plates, dock levelers, bumpers, and seals to ensure safe loading and unloading operations.
• Support rack installation, adjustments, repairs, and inspections in accordance with safety standards.
• Assist with minor equipment troubleshooting and coordinate with vendors for major repairs.

Preventive Maintenance

• Execute preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend the life of warehouse equipment and facilities.
• Conduct routine inspections to identify safety hazards, maintenance needs, and potential operational risks.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and report recurring issues to management.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all work complies with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and local codes.
• Maintain a clean and organized maintenance area and properly store tools and materials.
• Respond promptly to maintenance-related emergencies to minimize operational disruption.

General Support

• Assist with warehouse reconfigurations, installations, and improvement projects.
• Support special projects assigned, including facility upgrades and renovations.
• Perform other maintenance-related duties as required to support warehouse operations.

Qualifications & Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Proven experience as a warehouse handyman, maintenance technician, or similar role.
• Working knowledge of:
  • Basic electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
  • Forklift basic maintenance (oil changes, filters, inspections)
  • Dock equipment repair and maintenance
  • Carpentry, drywall, painting, and general facility repairs
  • Warehouse racking systems and installation
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and basic diagnostic equipment safely.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Physically capable of lifting to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and working in a warehouse environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Forklift certification or willingness to become certified.
• OSHA safety training or maintenance-related certifications.
• Experience in warehouse or distribution center environments.
• Warehouse and office settings.
• Exposure to machinery, heights, noise, and varying temperatures.
