Join Our Team at Brazos Electric as an Electro-Mechanical Technician in Tolar, TX

At Brazos Electric Power Cooperative, we are looking for a skilled and motivated Electro Mechanical Technician to join our team and play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the reliability of our electrical systems. If you enjoy hands‑on work, solving complex problems, and working with high‑voltage equipment, this is a role where your expertise truly matters.

What You’ll Do Testing, Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  • Perform calibration, testing, and repair of solid‑state and microprocessor‑based relays
  • Inspect and verify operation of circuit switchers, motor‑operated air switches, and related equipment
  • Conduct electrical testing and maintenance on 15kV–27kV reclosers and breakers
  • Test and maintain 69kV–345kV generator circuit breakers (GCBs)
  • Inspect and repair transformer tap changer controls, regulators, and mobile substations
  • Analyze electrical drawings and schematics to diagnose issues
  • Troubleshoot system and relay problems to prevent recurrence
Installation & Commissioning
  • Install and validate relay protection schemes
  • Implement and verify settings changes from engineering teams
  • Install and maintain associated equipment such as recorders and transducers
  • Substation Construction & Upgrades
  • Support installation of control house equipment
  • Run conduit and terminate control wiring in substations
Record Keeping & Compliance
  • Maintain accurate records of testing and equipment documentation
  • Ensure compliance with standards and reporting requirements

Qualifications
  • Education:

    High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience:

    3+ years of electrical or substation mechanical experience
