Electrician

Position Responsibilities

• Plans new installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid hazardous wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
• Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings and flooring.
• Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit, using such tools as hacksaw, pipe threader, and conduit bender.
• Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads with knife or pliers, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.
• Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment, using hand tools.
• Connects power cables to equipment and installs grounding leads.
• Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components, using testing instruments.
• Performs additional duties as directed by electrical supervisor.

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience.
• Must have valid Journeyman Electrician license.
• Appropriate training and experience required.

• Work easily and skillfully with hands.
• Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolds.
• See well (naturally or with correction) and distinguish colors.
• Reach for, handle, and grasp wires and hand tools.
• Bend, crouch, and work in small places.
• Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
