Rx Automation Mechanic
As an Rx Automation Mechanic, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, change control, testing, and process improvement of automated prescription dispensing and fulfillment systems. You will also support and train pharmacy staff and operators to meet production goals and quality expectations.
Responsibilities- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automated pharmacy dispensing equipment (electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, PLC-controlled, robotic, barcode, label printing, computer, networking, conveyor systems).
- Complete and document all corrective and preventative maintenance tasks using CMMS software.
- Maintain parts inventories and coordinate with suppliers and vendors for component availability.
- Oversee vendor support for facility air compressors and generators.
- Repair or refurbish heat presses and equipment within your service area.
- Support pharmacy automation remotely through a rotating on‑call schedule.
- Notify the Manager of major repair needs or equipment shortages, and maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Partner with automation operators and vendors to reduce faults and improve equipment utilization.
- Assist with training on automation equipment and competency and safety assessments.
- Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with cGMP and site policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and PLC‑controlled automation systems.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, prints, and wiring diagrams.
- Experience with robotics systems and industrial label printers.
- Familiarity with Omron/Adept and GE Fanuc robots.
- Experience with a work‑order based preventive maintenance system.
- Basic networking troubleshooting skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with the National Electrical Code.
- Willingness to travel up to 40% and availability for rotating on‑call support.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s degree with a preference in automation, or 2 additional years of equivalent experience.
- Anticipated weekly hours: 40.
- Full time.
- Pay range: $22.59 – $49.04 per hour (or equivalent annual salary).
