HVAC Tech / Heating Engineer, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Installation Technician, Field/Service Technician
Responsibilities
Support the fast‑growing HVAC business in North America.
Provide maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems, including rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, and piping.
Partner with journeymen to repair centrifugal turbines, steam turbines, absorption machines, open‑drive screw chillers, and ammonia/ammonium systems.
Diagnose and troubleshoot systems, perform preventive maintenance, and complete system commissioning and aftermarket service.
Provide customers with accurate quotes, recommendations, and upsell opportunities as a trusted advisor.
Travel 10% to 20% to support branch customers.
- Member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry.
- Minimum 8 years of commercial and/or industrial HVAC mechanical troubleshooting experience in HVAC, petro‑chemical, or data center environments.
- Experience repairing centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers, and ammonia/hydrocarbon system components.
- Ammonia and hydrocarbon safety training certification.
- Ability to install complete systems (chillers, rooftop units, plumbing and supporting mechanical systems).
- Proficient with mechanical shaft alignment (dial indicators, laser), vibration analysis, and troubleshooting driveline equipment.
- Valid driver’s license;
Universal EPA refrigerants license and applicable state or local licensing. - Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to write problem, cause, and corrective action reports and provide quotes to customers.
- Self‑starter with a passion to learn and apply on‑the‑job training.
- Willingness to pass a knowledge examination and to enroll in training programs.
- Hourly rate determined by collective bargaining agreement.
