Job Summary

We are currently hiring a Diesel Technician for the Paragon Fleet Maintenance Group who will perform preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostic tests, and repairs on our fleet of Peterbilt, Kenworth, and Freightliner trucks. Multiple shifts are available.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled and non-routine repairs to meet DOT standards
  • Diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline engines
  • Diagnose and repair suspension and steering systems
  • Diagnose and repair air and hydraulic braking systems
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and lighting systems
  • Conduct preventative maintenance repairs such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery
  • Maintain a clean and neat shop
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Basic tool set for job functions
  • 1+ year general heavy-duty diesel mechanic experience
  • Working knowledge of telematics systems and diagnostic software
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to read and understand operating manuals, service manuals, and written instructions
  • Valid Class C driver's license
  • Clear reading, writing and speaking English
  • Basic math calculations

Preferred: Cummins or Detroit certification, Commercial Inspection certification.

Skills and Abilities
  • Engine diagnosis and repair
  • Preventative maintenance, wheel seals, water pumps, A/C components, compressors, air and hydraulic braking systems
  • APU operation, basic math, tool utilization
  • Truck repair, electronic diagnostics, mechanical repair
  • Knowledge of Cummins X15 engine, Detroit DD15 engine, diesel repair, fleet mechanic/technician experience
Physical Demands
  • Maneuvering around, in, on, and under trucks and tight spaces to inspect and diagnose problems
  • Standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, crawling, pushing, and pulling with a full range of body movements

    Using hands to handle, control or feel components
  • Climbing ladders, stairs, and platforms
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
Experience

3+ years as a diesel technician.
