ESSENTIAL DUTIES- Perform semi‑skilled installation, maintenance and repair of valves, meters, gauges, pumps and related equipment in water distribution or wastewater collection systems using hand and power tools.
- Operate and perform routine maintenance of vehicles and equipment, including trucks, digging and trenching equipment, in accordance with company procedures and standards.
- Load and unload equipment, chemicals and supplies at worksites and storage areas.
- Operate medium construction equipment under the supervision of a qualified operator.
- Adhere to all safety and security policies, procedures, practices and standards to ensure a safe working environment.
- Perform ground‑keeping and custodial work as assigned.
- Resolve routine problems and notify management of issues outside the scope of responsibility.
- Read meters as needed.
- Update and maintain documentation of work activities, including closing work orders as required in the system.
- Assist with other tasks or projects as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED. No previous experience required; mechanical and/or electrical experience is preferred.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Familiarity with computers and work systems, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate clearly, concisely and professionally with customers and internal staff.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and on multiple projects simultaneously, adapting to changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Team player able to work effectively in a multi‑tasking environment.
Work may involve extreme temperatures, noise, wet or humid conditions, exposure to mechanical, electrical, gas hazards, fumes, dusts and poor ventilation. The job requires lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. Employees may travel to work sites and be required to be on call per site schedule.
