We are seeking a Lead Technician to support technical projects for Sky Cam systems in both in‑house and field environments. The Lead Technician will collaborate closely with the CTO, manage system deployment, maintain equipment, and provide on‑site leadership during events.
Responsibilities- Work in the Sky Cam Shop under the direction of the CTO to test, prepare, repair, maintain, kit, and deploy Sky Cam systems.
- Utilize extensive electronics, electrical, and computer knowledge to troubleshoot failures and repairs across complex systems.
- Isolate, identify, repair, and certify failures at the board level.
- Support systems deployment and ongoing maintenance per CTO guidance.
- Interface with the CTO on engineering and shop operations affecting field operations and safety.
- Support operations in the shop, including general maintenance, testing, and system preparation; perform R&D, design, and other assigned duties.
- Conduct shop and field repairs and direct other crew members with setup and operation.
- Familiar with necessary tools and parts for assembly and rigging of the system.
- Act as on‑site leader for equipment and crew at events, serving as point of contact for other crews/EICs.
- Interface directly with clients, venue operators, or other crew leaders to ensure safe and proper installation.
- Provide guidance and mentor Sky Cam crew.
- Train EICs, E2s, Riggers, Pilots, and Operators on job sites and at the Fort Worth facility.
- Be on call for field trouble issues, coordinating with the CTO as required.
- While on client job sites, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Report and directly communicate all equipment issues and recommendations to the CTO.
- Participate in staff, operational, and organizational meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as requested or required.
- Work environment noise is moderate or potentially loud.
- Allows for up to 25 % domestic and international travel; U.S. passport required or obtainable.
- Work in high‑stress, fast‑paced, multi‑level distraction environment.
- Ability to work extended hours; nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Lift up to 25 lbs about 1/3 of the time.
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma.
- At least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience, preferably in media, broadcasting, or production industries.
- Proficiency in MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (AS or Technical School acceptable).
- Strong organizational and multi‑tasking skills with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to manage through complex situations in a professional manner.
- Skilled with computer networks, serial communications, and RF.
- Electrically and mechanically inclined, proficient with hand tools and electrical test equipment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good analytical and creative skills.
- Strong communications skills and eagerness to collaborate with a variety of individuals.
- Comfort with rapidly changing environment and openness to innovative ideas.
- Extensive domestic and international travel; U.S. passport required or obtainable.
- Base salary ranges $75,000 - $80,000.
