OverviewThe City of Fort Worth is seeking a Water Systems Technician I to support the operation and maintenance of the city’s water and wastewater treatment plants and facilities. The role involves performing technical and manual labor tasks, and offers opportunities for training and career advancement.
Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or GED certification
- Valid driver’s license
- Possession of or ability to obtain a Water or Wastewater Class D license.
- Must pass drug screen and physical examination.
- Possession of or ability to obtain a Water or Wastewater Class C license within 3 years of hire.
- Previous experience working in a water utility.
- Operate and adjust treatment plant pumps, motors, feeders, and other equipment.
- Participate in routine laboratory analysis to determine plant efficiency.
- Assist mechanical staff with maintenance of facilities and equipment, such as adding oil or grease to components.
- Record information obtained from charts, gauges, meters, and scales.
- Participate in monitoring the work area to ensure a safe working environment.
The job requires touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dust, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, and workspace restrictions.
