Electrical Inspection Specialist job available with the City of Fort Worth Development Services Inspections Division. The inspections division performs a variety of construction inspection duties including building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, sign, and parkway inspections and verifying zoning compliance. The division performs inspections on a diverse mix of commercial and residential projects for compliance with building codes and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications
  • HS Diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training in building construction or a related field
  • Four (4) years of experience in building inspection and/or construction related field
  • State of Texas Master Electricians License
Preferred Qualifications
  • ICC Commercial Electrical Inspector certification
  • ICC Commercial Energy Inspector certification
  • Extensive inspection experience
  • Two (2) years increasingly responsible experience in conducting electrical inspections
The Electrical Specialist

Job Responsibilities Include
  • Performing electrical inspections to verify compliance with the adopted codes on the more complex projects within the City of Fort Worth
  • Attend construction and pre‑construction meetings with developers and permit holders
  • Hands‑on inspection training in the field with inspectors covering aspects of electrical installations and energy compliance
  • Assisting with less complicated inspections when assistance is needed by other inspectors
Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Depending on assignment, positions in this class require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; exposure to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises may occur.

Light Work

Positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly moving objects. If arm or leg controls require exertion greater than sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
